After much consideration, deliberation, and feedback from the Pipeliners community the Golf Tournament committee has made the difficult decision to cancel the Spring Golf Tournament. It is truly disappointing that we must do this but, due to the restrictions put on us to host such an event during the current pandemic combined with the logistical requirements to keep everyone safe, we have decided to cancel this event and try to resume in the fall.
This golf tournament is, at its heart, about raising funds for our scholarships program to support our youth. Over the years the Pipeliners Association of Houston has given out millions of dollars via thousands of scholarships. Over the last several years we have been able to help approximately 100 students receive scholarships through our program annually. This year, that need is even greater as that number has increased to over 150 scholarships needed. These students are our very own members children and family members. Despite the turbulent times wreaking havoc on our fundraising efforts, it is our hope that we can still find a way to raise the support needed this year and are asking for you to help us maintain achieving this goal.
With this in mind, we are asking that you consider donating your participating contribution, or a portion of your contribution to the scholarship program. We also understand that these are very trying times and not everyone will be able to contribute but we will do our best to try to work with everyone to get your charges settled as quickly as possible.
If you determine that you and your company would like to contribute your registration fees and donate the full amount to the scholarship program , you do NOT need to do anything. Your contribution will be transferred into this years scholarship awards on the morning of Monday May 18th, 2020. Please contact us back within the next 48 hours if you are not able to contribute, or have an alternative amount to help.
With that being stated, Kingwood Country Club has agreed to allow for our members to book individual tee times if you are still interested in playing golf at their facility and promised to make the necessary availability to do so. The times are being held for May 28th and will need to be booked through the club. They have also considered the needs for our scholarship program and have agreed to generously donate $10 for every player who books a tee time on behalf of the Pipeliner's.
We would like to end on a positive note by saying how much we appreciate all the support and dedication we have received from all our members over the years! Your participation in this group is the lifeblood to these events and the committee truly appreciates your involvement. I cant wait until the fall when we can get everyone back out on the course and have our greatest tournament yet.
